The NSCDA-MA properties — Prescott House, Dorothy Quincy Homestead, and Martin House Farm – part of Great American Treasures which includes more than 75 historical sites—BIG and small—that tell the complete story of how AMERICA became AMERICA. By visiting these Great American Treasurers, you’ll feel the drama, the humanity, the rhythms of everyday life, and the thrill of our greatest triumphs so deeply, you’ll never see history the same way again.
The collection of Great American Treasures isn’t just about dates or timelines or architectural styles. It’s about movement. To the west, the north, the south. The movement of Europeans from being subjects of a kingdom to governing themselves. The movement of social change, of political ideas and of people who simply yearned to breathe free. It’s also about the stories of people who wanted something more. People fleeing religious persecution or the law. Enslaved people who came here not by choice but by force. Women who wanted to find their voice. And Native Americans pushed off their lands.
The Curated Collections of Great American Treasures give context to who we are and how America came to be. It isn’t always a straight path, but it certainly is an interesting one.
