NSCDA-MA Lecture with Dr. Patrick T. J. Browne
November 12 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$10.00 – $70.00
The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts cordially invites you to an evening lecture with guest speaker Dr. Patrick T. J. Browne, Executive Director of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society.
From Boston to Plymouth: The South Shore and the Coming of Revolution
How did residents of the South Shore of Massachusetts react to the tumultuous events in Boston from 1770 to 1775? How were the Revolutionary movements in Boston and Plymouth linked? And how did Marshfield, Massachusetts become the only town outside of Boston to be occupied by British Regulars? Dr. Patrick Browne will examine the fraught tensions between Patriots and Loyalists on the South Shore—tensions that escalated until both sides were arrayed for battle and bloodshed seemed inevitable.
A friendly heads-up:
Boston traffic may be heavier than usual that evening, with a Celtics game in town—please plan your travel time accordingly.
