Please join us at The Singing Beach Club in Manchester by the Sea on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 12noon for a lecture by Robert Booth, Director and Curator of the Manchester By-The-Sea Historical Society followed by lunch. Mr. Booth will speak about the History of Manchester By-The-Sea, Massachusetts.
This event is hosted by Nathalie Binney, NSCDA-MA Program Committee member and member of The Singing Beach Club.
The cost of this event is $30. Please RSVP no later than June 14.
A graduate of Harvard, Mr. Booth started his career as a newspaper reporter in Salem and went on to write several books of history including the prize winning “Death of an Empire”(2011) about the demise of Salem as a trading center 1815-1830, “Mad for Glory”(2015) about he Pacific in the War of 1812 and “The Women of Marblehead”(2016), a history of the town in the 19th century. In 2020 his commissioned monograph “The History of the Meeting House of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA” was published in connection with the 375th anniversary of the incorporation of the town. Before becoming Interim Director a little over a year ago, he conducted the house history and marker program for the Manchester-by-the-Sea Historical Society which is housed at 10 Union Street in Manchester-by-the-Sea. The Manchester Historical Museum has a collection of art, artifacts and documents from Manchester’s past and interprets the town’s remarkable history(Source: https://www.thecricket.com/news, Editorial Staff, April 26, 2022)
